We are The Foundation for Human Rights through Photography, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that uses photojournalism and education to inspire action on human rights.
Humans deserve certain rights in life; we support photographers that want to help promote human rights. Regardless of if it is positive or negative, if it is human rights, it needs to be documented. The human mind forgets; but in the digital age-the computers almost guarantee that it won’t be forgotten. Humans learn from their mistakes and wins, so that they may educate themselves on what they have done right or wrong. Because of this, we encourage photographers around the world to use their artistic skills to document human rights, in context, so that we may learn from what we as humans have done right, and wrong, and change our future actions accordingly.
1. Advocacy
Through powerful imagery, we advocate for human rights globally, shedding light on both triumphs and injustices.
2. Documentation
Our photographers document human rights issues to create a visual archive that inspires change and reflection.
3. Promotion
We promote human rights through exhibitions, publications, and educational initiatives to foster compassion and understanding.
We archive photographs for anyone to view; anytime, anywhere. Images can be used by anyone to illustrate human rights in action, as long as it gives context in a photojournalistic manner. We kindly ask that photographs used from our archives be given credit to the photographers that own the copyrights. If you are a photographer with a copyright complaint, please email us at [email protected]. Photographers that wish to submit their photographs for others to use may do so by signing up for a member account to our archives.
